Breast ultrasound
Ultrasound is one of the methods used to assess breast tissue. The appropriate investigations depend on age, symptoms, history and the clinical question.
When to seek assessment
New lumps, pain, nipple discharge, changes in shape or asymmetry, nipple retraction, skin changes or other new symptoms warrant clinical assessment.
Any investigation result should be interpreted together with clinical findings. Further diagnostic steps may be recommended when appropriate.
